Winged heroes

During the tour around Kaunas with “Our Odyssey” we will get acquainted with the life of the most famous Lithuanian pilots. We will find out what motivated them to fly and their determination for the feat that made Lithuania famous all over the world. At S. Darius and S. Girėnas aerodrome we will see a memorial to Lithuanian pilots. We will go to Kaunas University of Medicine, where we will be able to stay in the historical chapel as an exclusive guests, where the remains of the legendary pilots Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas were protected in the period 1934-1937 and 1940-1944. We will inspect the surviving personal belongings of the pilots and the wreckage of “Lituanika” at the Vytautas the Great War Museum. We will also visit the Monument to Transatlantic Pilots in “Ąžuolynas”. We will end the tour at the soldiers’ cemetery – the place of eternal rest of S. Darius and S. Girėnas.
